I am a human geographer working on the social and cultural geographies of artistic and everyday practices and the use of urban public spaces. I am particularly interested in developing understandings of the experiential aspects of this and how the use of space intersects with its planning and design.

I am currently an Associate Professor of Human Geography at the University of Plymouth where I am also Co-Leader of the Centre for Research in Environment and Society. I was also Lecturer in Human Geography at Plymouth (August 2013 - July 2017 / August 2010 - March 2012) and have previously lectured at Keele University (October 2009-July 2010 / April 2012 - July 2013). My postgraduate study was based at the University of Bristol (where I completed an MSc in Society and Space and a PhD in Human Geography between 2005-2009) and my undergraduate study (MA Geography) at the University of Glasgow.
